Scope and Contents

The Yamasaki Family Papers contain items related to the family’s experience in Poston Relocation Center. These items include religious books from the Poston Christian Church (1921-1941), correspondence related to camp reunions (1987, 1992, 1998) and a booklet with information on Poston. The collection also contains an extensive number of English and Japanese language publications that relate to the Japanese American religious community, special events and news. Of note is a pencil sketch by an unknown artist created at Camp Denson (also known as the Jerome Relocation Center) in Arkansas that is tucked between the pages of a Japanese publication (ca. 1942). Collection contains items such as a kokeshi from a shrine, child-sized zori (Japanese sandals), postcards (ca. 1940s-1970s) and clothing patterns (1950s-1970s). Also included are awards and certificates related to bowling and career achievements.
