This collection contains a variety of materials that Tohoru Miyashita acquired throughout his lifetime. Miyashita kept brochures, postcards, and matchbooks from his travels. He also collected reports and newsletters from the various Japanese organizations in Chicago, Illinois, which include Heiwa Terrace, the Japanese American Citizens League and the Japanese American Service Committee. Miyashita saved the financial booklet and tanomoshi charts from his time on the board at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago. Miyashita kept the personal letters in Japanese that were sent to him from 1979 to 1999.
