Scope and Contents
The Jerry Jiro Katayama Photograph Collection consists of photographs taken of his parents, Frank Ryotaro and Hisa Sato Katayama, prior to their immigration to the United States and when they first settled into life on the West Coast (ca. 1910s-1930s). Early photographs of Jerry and his siblings are present as well. The majority of the collection consists photos taken by Jerry during his military experience (1943-1947) and photos of his friends and family. Also included are photos related to bowling.

Katayama was a longtime employee at Schwinn Bicycles; these photographs document him in his office space; bicycle gears and parts are visible around him; also included are photos taken in Chicago of unidentified individuals; finally, an envelope labeled Arnold, Schwinn & Co is included; annotation states “1,000,000 Bike Sales Celebration Party” and “Jerry Katayama Inspection”
