Scope and Contents
The Jerry Jiro Katayama Photograph Collection consists of photographs taken of his parents, Frank Ryotaro and Hisa Sato Katayama, prior to their immigration to the United States and when they first settled into life on the West Coast (ca. 1910s-1930s). Early photographs of Jerry and his siblings are present as well. The majority of the collection consists photos taken by Jerry during his military experience (1943-1947) and photos of his friends and family. Also included are photos related to bowling.

Katayama and mostly unidentified individuals in postwar Japan; one photo is labeled “Jimmy Iwamura and Jimmy Ogisaka just before leaving for the States”; one photo of a seated man [possibly Benjamin Hazard] and woman holding a puppy in an outdoor setting could have been taken in Korea as the woman is wearing a Korean style dress
