Biographical / Historical
Masami “Sam” Yoshinari was born in Oregon on February 1, 1917. In 1940, Yoshinari enlisted in the United States Army and completed his military training at Fort Lewis, Washington and at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. With the onset of World War II, he was assigned to assist the FBI at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana and was later transferred to the 442nd Regimental Combat Team wherein he served with distinction in Italy and France. After the war concluded, Yoshinari settled in Norridge, Illinois where he met and married his wife, Alice, and raised two sons. Sam Yoshinari died on April 15, 2011.
