Biographical / Historical
Hiromi "George" Miyagawa (d. 2005) was working in Alaska when World War II started. He, along with his fellow Issei shipmates, was forced to wear a “PW” (Prisoner of War) shirt and was incarcerated in the brig of the ship for the voyage from Alaska to Seattle. George was later interned in Minidoka in Jerome County, Idaho.
