John T. Arima slide collection
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of 35mm color slides, black and white photographic prints, documents, and correspondence. The 35mm color slides depict family events, vacations, fishing trips, and images John Arima took for work. The black and white prints document life in the Gila River incarceration camp in Arizona. The documents in this collection include camp newsletters and official government documents from the War Relocation Authority and the American Council on Public Affairs. Also included is correspondence from John’s mother Koharu in 1945, sharing observations from Gila River, including when people were leaving and where they were going. One letter is in Japanese (not translated).
