Biographical / Historical

Kikuko Fujimura was born in San Francisco, California on November 30, 1917. Her mother’s maiden name was Ishiyama and she had one younger sister, Aiko Fujimoto (23 August 1922-18 June 2003), who was also born in California. Kikuko was a member of the Buddhist Temple of Chicago. It is assumed that she was also a member of the Kyushu-kai, one of several social groups centered on members' families' prefecture of origin in Japan. Kikuko attended the Kyushu group, which could mean that her family originally came from Kyushu, or that invited to join the group by friends. Kikuko passed away January 14, 2013.
