Yoshie Kaneko collection
Scope and Contents
This collection is divided by Ms. Kaneko’s personal materials and audio tapes. The audio tapes and a description of the service was sent to her by Pastor Yoshito Anno of Winnetka Japanese Christin Church (WJCC) between 2011-2013. Ms. Kaneko’s personal materials consists of one 12 x19 chalk pastel drawing of her done in Hawaii by Miller in 1970, one 8x10 canvas photograph of Ms. Kaneko in her later years and a full Kimono. This is along with her personal bible (The Old and New Testaments) that was place into the Legacy Center Library collection.

Biographical / Historical
Yoskie Kaneko was born in Japan March 5, 1925, she was an illegitimate child. She met her husband Charles F. Kaiser in Japan. Charles returned to the United States after they met. Then he returned to Japan to bring her back to the United States, when she was in her mid 30’s – 40s. Yoshie married Charles at the age of 30 years old in 1955. Yoshie and Charles lived in Park Forest, IL. She worked at the GE Plant until her retirement in 1990 at the age of 65. Then Yoshie and Charles moved to West Chicago, until Charles’s death in 2012. Her last house was located at 15S 250 White Oak Dr., West Chicago, IL 60185. Ms. Kaneko used to have three St. Bernard’s (Dogs).
Ms. Kaneko is a Christian and attended church at of Winnetka Japanese Christin Church (WJCC) 850 Spruce St; Winnetka, 850 Spruce St Winnetka, IL 60093-2231. The pastor of the church is Yoshito Anno. He sent cassettes to her when she could not attach church. These audio recording were the service that was in Japanese.
