Scope and Contents
Blue photo album is bound with blue fabric; album is filled with small black and white snapshots held in place by photo corners; photos document Mayeda’s military service throughout Europe; photos include fellow servicemen posing in front of signs for Donauworth, Hotel Konigssee, EMS Club and the Rumor Roost American Red Cross; they can also be seen posing in front of unidentified architectural structures; Mayeda documented buildings heavily damaged by air raids, a military encampment, European street scenes, the Merrey Messing Center, military processions, a downed airplane named “Margari”, fellow artillery soldiers, a voyage on a ship and his brother Charles whom was also a serviceman; some photographs are missing and less than half of the book is filled; two clippings related to death of Peter Masuoka are present; unidentified photograph of large group of people dining is tucked into the back of the book
